Cycle Report
We do not realize it, but our world functions according to cycles. Even the stock market is comprised of multiple overlapping cycles.
In the early 1970s, NASA mathematician J.M. Hurst made a fortuitous discovery. He recognized that data collected from the various Apollo missions was a “data time series”. He used Fourier transform mathematics to reveal the dominant cycles in the data. As a personal side-project he decided to study data from the Dow Jones Industrial Average. He soon realized that it too was a time series and he used Fourier mathematics to reveal the dominant cycles within. He concluded that the numbers that defined each day’s high and low were actually an overlapping assembly of sine wave and cosine wave cycles. Since the 1970s, algorithms for revealing cycles in data time series have become more sophisticated. I routinely use one of these algorithms to analyze daily and weekly price data for stocks, commodities and indices.
But cycles do not necessarily need a computer algorithm to be identified. One very obvious cycle is that of the Moon orbiting Earth. Back in 1937, Louise McWhirter noticed that the Moon could be used to identify cyclical turning points on the Dow Jones Industrial Average. W.D. Gann added to this knowledge when he used the declination of the Moon to identify cyclical turning points on stocks and commodities.
I have now created a new newsletter that I call the Cycle Report. Subscribers will receive the report in PDF format via email a minimum of once per month. Each report will contain charts and discussion of the cyclical features that are about to manifest. Each report will cover the S&P 500, Nasdaq, 10 Yr Treasury Notes, Australian ASX200, Copper, Gold, Corn, Wheat, Soybeans, Crude Oil, the US Dollar, and more… The information in an issue of the Cycle Report will help you anticipate coming trend changes. The old adage that says “forewarned is forearmed” will take on a whole new meaning.
